The Vietnam War was the first American war to that came right into American living rooms. Vivid imagery would work both ways to entrench strong patriotic support for the soldiers in two way. One large segment of the population wanted the government to continue giving support to the soldiers while the opposing views wanted to bring the soldiers home and to end the war once and for all.
